Pekmez & Fruit Molasses

Pekmez is a traditional Turkish fruit molasses made by slowly boiling down the juice of grapes, mulberries or other fruit until it turns thick and glossy. In English it is often called grape molasses. This collection gathers the pekmez range from Zühre Ana.

• Grape molasses (üzüm pekmezi) and mulberry molasses (dut pekmezi)
• Juniper molasses (andız pekmezi)
• Carob and date syrup
• Single-roasted tahini – the classic partner

The favourite way to enjoy it is “tahin-pekmez”: tahini and molasses stirred together and scooped up with bread, a fixture of the Turkish breakfast table. Pekmez can also sweeten baking or be drizzled over yoghurt.
